Yard signs are not on the exemption list in Minn. Stat. 211B.04, so campaign signs generally carry a disclaimer. The new sign-size rules apply to signs printed on or after January 1, 2027, so a run printed in 2026 is not bound by them. This is not legal advice. Minn. Stat. 211B.045 opens a window in a state general election year running from 46 days before the state primary until ten days after the general: June 26 through November 13 in 2026. During that window a city cannot cap the size or number of noncommercial signs, though placement rules and the highway right-of-way ban still apply.
