Cast and precision plaques start at 2 x 2 in, and bronze castings go up to 96 in across. Cast plaques are 5/16 to 1.5 in deep depending on size. Finishes have size limits: on cast bronze, polished tops out at 24 x 24 in, and light, standard and dark oxidized at 29 x 29 in. The alternative oxidized finishes have no size limit. Precision plaques use 1/8, 1/4, 5/16 or 3/8 in metal, depending on size and metal, and can be double-sided. Etched plates run from 0.018 in to 1/4 in thick depending on the metal, up to 36 x 72 in for most thicknesses. Printed plaques come in sizes from 2 x 2 in up to 46 x 95 in. Expect about 45 standard paint colors plus custom matching.
Start with the job, then pick the metal
- Building and park dedications
For cities, counties, park boards, schools and churches. Cast bronze or aluminum with raised letters: the place, a dedication line, the date, and the council or board behind it. A logo can go on as a full-color insert.
- Memorial and tribute plaques
A bench, tree, garden or room named for someone. Add a photo as an etched portrait, a ceramic insert or a photo-relief casting. A cast plaque up to 20 x 8 in can stand on two garden stakes. For grave markers and cemetery memorials, talk to a monument dealer.
- Donor and recognition plaques
A cast or precision title plaque with etched name plates, for nonprofits and building campaigns. Leave wall space for name plates you add later.
- Historical and anniversary markers
A founding year or a business's 25th. Cast plaques on a post work outside, and a historic photo can be etched as a halftone or printed in full color.
- Veterans memorials
For American Legion and VFW posts and city veterans parks. Standard cast seals include the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Merchant Marine, Space Force, Department of Homeland Security, POW/MIA and Department of Veterans Affairs.
- Award plates and nameplates
Thin etched plates for awards, doors and desks, such as brass at 0.020 or 0.040 in. The thin brass gauges and the nickel silver, copper and aluminum plates are for interior use.
- Room and wayfinding plaques

From wording to the wall
- Send what you have. The wording (rough is fine), the size, where it goes, any logo or photo, and your date.
- We write and lay it out. We check every name and date with you and recommend a material, finish and mounting.
- You approve a proof showing the layout, size, material, finish and mounting. We can print it full size on paper so you can tape it up first.
- It goes to production. Each plaque is made to order from your approved proof.
- It ships ready for the mounting you chose, and your proof lists the mounting method and any hardware that ships with it.

Your maintenance staff or contractor sets posts and mounts the plaque. With a heavy casting, trouble usually starts with how it is fastened and glued to the wall rather than with the studs themselves, so ask your architect or a structural engineer to sign off on the method. On stucco, plan for a standoff of at least 1/4 in.

Plaque FAQ
The name of the building, room or place; a line such as "Dedicated to" or "In honor of"; the date; and who is dedicating it, such as the city council or the congregation. Add a quote only if it earns the space. Send your draft, even a rough one, and we will tighten it on a proof.
Choose on the look you want. Bronze has the warm, traditional color people expect on a memorial or historical marker. Aluminum gives the same cast, raised-letter look in silver, which suits newer buildings and brushed-metal lobby letters. Both work indoors or outdoors. Bronze comes brushed, polished or oxidized; aluminum comes brushed, painted or with a random orbital finish. If budget decides it, we can quote both.
Yes, in an exterior material. Cast and precision-tooled plaques are made for interior or exterior use, and the metals and paints our manufacturing partners use have withstood thousands of hours of exposure to salt, fog, moisture, heat cycles and UV light. Etched plates depend on the metal and thickness. Cast and tooled metal is the longer-lasting choice outside; full-color print is rated for a shorter life outdoors. Mount it upright on a wall, post or stake rather than flat in the ground, and on stucco use a standoff of at least 1/4 in.
No. Plaques are made to go up without a sign installer. Each one ships ready for the mounting you choose, and your proof lists the mounting method and any hardware that ships with it. Your maintenance staff or contractor mounts it, and we can talk through the wall or spot with you before you order. For a large or heavy plaque, have your architect or a structural engineer approve the wall and the mounting method first.

Yes. A photo or logo can be printed in full color at up to 1200 dpi, and a photo can also be etched as a halftone, set in as a ceramic insert or cast as a photo-relief. Standard cast military and government seals come in diameters from 10 to 96 in.
